The UK’s Sun ran a story today on the Michael Hayes/Mark Henry racial incident that lead to the WWE creative member being served with a 60-day suspension. The story says that Hayes started off the night getting drunk and singing a few songs on stage.
An eyewitness at the party said, "Hayes was up on stage, drunk, singing badly and swaying all over the place. It's the same thing he did at Stephanie McMahon’s wedding to Triple H. Only this night didn't turn out so well for him." The eyewitness claims that later that night, Hayes was ribbing 36-year-old 390lb former SmackDown wrestler and former Strongman winner Mark Henry, saying that his lack of success on WWE TV was due to him "not being black enough." Hayes then added, "I've got soul, brother. I'm more of a n***** than you are!" The two then got into a brief physical altercation which was quickly broken up by other wrestlers who were nearby. Henry talked to WWE management about the situation and Hayes was promptly suspended.
It’s now believed that racial slurs have been far too commonly used within WWE. There are rumors that Bobby Lashley got such a sweet deal out of his release from the company because he had some dirt on them. Those rumors are further fueled by the fact that there was a condition in his release agreement that he cannot publicly bash WWE, and talking about any racially fueled incidents could lead to a breach of contract lawsuit.
ProWrestling.net is reporting that there were also some incidents involving Michael Hayes and RAW writer Dave Kapoor, who played Ranjin Singh alongside The Great Khali on WWE TV. A source claims that Hayes used a derogatory word and a stereotypical Indian accept to mock Kapoor. Kapoor hasn’t made a complaint about the incident, but witnesses to it include agents, writers and even members of the McMahon family.
